چکیده

This paper presents a scan curve algorithm for evaluating the face area of solids in constructive solid geometry (CSG) representation. Compared to previous methods, the algorithm is more accurate and computationally faster. The applicable domain is limited to solids bounded by three classes of surfaces: all quadric surfaces, cylindrical surfaces, and surfaces of revolution which are algebraic surfaces with rational parametric equations for their generating curves. The algorithm has been implemented in FORTRAN 77 on a VAX 11/780 machine. The extensions of this algorithm may also be applied to the solution of the following three problems: (1) Boundary representation (BREP) evaluation from CSGj (2) Face area evaluation for solids in BREPj and (3) Triangulation of the faces of solids in eSG or BREP.

Ray-reps for Free-form Modeling: Line Membership Classi cation on CSRs

Low degree (typically 2, 3) tetrahedral implicit algebraic patches are gaining in popularity for modeling boundaries of free-form (sculptured) solids. A Constructive Shell Representation (CSR) is a union of truncated tetrahedra, called \trunctets", that form a thick shell containing the boundary of such a free-form solid. One bounding face of each trunctet is an algebraic patch, and the other f...

Algebraic Representation of CSG Solids Built from Free-Form Primitives

A mathematical model for free-form solid modelling was presented in previous published works. The key aspects of this model are the decomposition of the volume occupied by the solid into non-disjoint cells, and the representation of the solid as an algebraic sum of these cells. Here we apply this scheme to represent CSG solids built by combining free-form solids in boolean operations. As a proo...

CSG Hidden Surface Algorithms for VLSI Hardware Systems

Constructive Solid Geometry (CSG) is a solid modeling representation that defines objects · as Boolean combinations of primitive solids. For the display of such objects, both the visibility problem and the problem of combining the primitive solids into one composite object have to be solved. Recently, several CSG hidden surface algorithms have been published that reduce these two problems to a ...

Converting CSG models into Meshed B-Rep Models Using Euler Operators and Propagation Based Marching Cubes

The purpose of this work is to define a new algorithm for converting a CSG representation into a B-Rep representation. Usually this conversion is done determining the union, intersection or difference from two B-Rep represented solids. Due to the lack of explicit representation of surface boundaries, CSG models must be converted into B-Rep solid models when a description based on polygonal mesh...

New Algorithm for Converting a CSG Representation Into a B-Rep Representation

The purpose of this work is to define a new algorithm for converting a CSG representation into a B-Rep representation. Usually this conversion is done determining the union, intersection or difference from two B-Rep represented solids. We will define another approach where the space used by the solids is determined as a volumetric representation. Then, using the volumetric representation a B-Re...
